Cross-cultural communication with Leyah

I realized I was bicultural as well as bilingual from this session. I have never tghought about it before, but I feel very comfortable with an English speeaking culture just as much as I am in my Egyptian one. I can make friends, explore, ask around, meet new people, discover local details about a place, just as I can im my home town. I personally like people and enjoy getting to know new individuals all over the world.

Aleza Greene's session

This session was very interesting and helpful to find out about the disabilities act in the history of the U.S.  This was informative and made us know more about how documented these rules are, which help ensure that all people disabilities have a similar opportunity in life as any body else. though all the rules mentioned were very clear and assured us that all the buildings have elevators and ramps, in Cairo the buildings can be very historic and not designed for an elevator. Nonetheless, it is a social norm in Egypt to help anybody with a physical disabilty without thinking. Therefore, I guess that a strong well-rooted social norm of helping people out can be as  strong as any political rule that ensures that here.

David Christian: Career development

First of all, Dr. Christian is a remarkable individual. He is able to be an outdoors person as well as an accomplished academic, which can be very challenging to combine. To explain, the paper work and research requirements can be too much to handle at times, and knowing that he is able to mountain bike and work out regularly made me sincerely appreciate his rich, well-rounded character. As a teacher at any university, one bears the responsibility of guidance for sytudents who are just out of adolescence. Some of these students look up to a teacher and think very highly of what they have to say. Thus, I keep in mind to try and accomodate any student who asks for my help in any time and in any way. This leads to an extra level of trust and companionship to the teacher-student relationship. What Dr. Christian presented was activities on how to become a social council for students of all ages, and I am going to apply some of these techniques he shared with us to my class. For example, he ...

Class observation with Dr. Linda Eilers

This was such a refreshing session. I really enjoyed the presence around young teachers and children of different ages. For example, the teachers gave as much attention to physical activity and helping the young boys and girls strecth and walk around just as much as they were focused on their assessment. Alos, the assessment games were really fun and not vindictive or dry for the boys and girls. Evrybody seemed to enjoy their time. I remember a bright young girl called Jewel, who had a wonderful teracher. Her teacher was so supportive, warm, and gracious that she made sure I get to know each and every test , how it works, and how to apply it for the students' benefit. Moreover, most of the teachers there did the same, but really this teacher was truly remarkable. Finally, I gained a new idea for an assessment that is very viable in Egypt, and I did not know about before. Non-sensical word formation is a test to realize if the students can relate between the letters and the sou...

Todd Smith's session

The first time I entered the auditorium, I liked the acoustics very much. It felt like entering a very well adjusted theater stage. Then, when we got to listen Dr. Todd smith, it was a real treat. His style of teaching was very engaging and also he has such a grabbing charisma that he was able to use in a way to grab our attention even more. It was very very entertaining more than just informative how he explained to us the different faults in the idea of ultimate freedom and the numerous prices that come with it as people give up order and discipline. Moreover, I am very happy now that I know more about the American political system, becuase it always seemed so unexplainable. Finally, I really hope to attend another session of Professor Todd Smith's any time soon.
